Making the Case: Three La Jolla Schools Place High in County Mock Trial Competition |
Wyatt Hegeler is an Attorney-Coach for La Jolla High School's Mock Trial Team. During the school year, Wyatt meets with students from his Alma Mater on a weekly basis to work on a case that the students will ultimately argue in the San Diego Mock Trial Competition, at the San Diego Superior Court house. Wyatt and his students focus on developing strong trial advocacy skills, including critical thinking, public speaking, persuasive writing, case research and preparation, and interpersonal communication. Wyat also works with his team on developing pre-trial and motion oral arguments. | |

22ndĀ Annual Willem C. Vis East International Commercial |
At the beginning of April, Hegeler & Anderson Law Clerk Nicole Parks competed in the 22ndĀ Annual Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Hong Kong. The Vis Moot is an opportunity for students from law schools all over the world to compete against each other by presenting oral arguments in front of a panel of arbitrators. Representing the University of San Diego, Nicole and her team were one of only two teams from the United States to advance to the elimination rounds. Out of 154 teams, Nicole and her team finished the competition as Sixteenth Finalists, marking an achievement for the University of San Diego that has not been accomplished since 2017. |
