Prior to joining Hegeler & Anderson, Mr. Campen worked at the San Diego City Attorney’s office as a Head Deputy City Attorney in the Criminal Division’s Issuing Unit and later in the Domestic Violence Unit. There he also served in the civil litigation division defending the City in complex civil litigation matters. 

Mr. Campen was a felony prosecutor at the San Diego District Attorney’s office, where he specialized in family violence and cyber-crimes. During that time, he also served as a faculty member with the International Family Justice Center Alliance, where he trained judges, attorneys, law enforcement, medical providers, and advocates on issues relating to family violence.

In his private practice, Mr. Campen defended individuals and businesses in civil and criminal claims.  He represented physicians, health care providers and other professionals accused of license-threatening acts.  Mr. Campen has tried over 100 jury trials, ranging from computer crimes to robbery to first degree murder with special circumstances. 

Tim grew up in the North County area of San Diego and graduated from Torrey Pines High School, where he was a lacrosse player, actor, and his graduating class’ commencement speaker. As an undergraduate, Tim was on the Chico State speech team and an on-air personality with the local PBS radio station.  In law school, Tim served on the student bar association and was selected as the student commencement speaker. 

Tim is an advocate for Type 1 diabetics, an avid triathlete, and musician. He has been married for over 17 years and is the father of 3 children.
